I always thought about the idea of writing a book, but never imagined it would get this real.
After many conversations with different faculty members, family and friends I came to the conclusion that the best way to get my point across and to tell my story was through a book.
What a better way to tell people how it was (and still is) to live with photodermatitis and to sympathize with others that suffer from the same condition?
My story, told from a preteen girl's perspective.
I was around ten years old when my parents and I first heard the word photodermatitis. Although I became aware of my self-image in relation to my skin disorder long before that... ever since I remember.
Somehow I believe that illustrating the book won't be the hardest part, but writing it. I already see myself tearing apart as I recollect memories of those instances when I was reminded I was different.
Oh how excited I am about the whole project... I can't wait to start illustrating. I know once I start, I won't be able to stop!
